The other day I caught myself fantasizing about finding the fountain of youth. I pictured my friends looking old and asking how I “stayed in my twenties for all these years?” I thought about how I could stay out all night and run five miles in the morning. At some point in our lives we wish deeply for the vitality of youth. Not money, not stuff, not even accomplishments. Just youth. The rest is ahead at that age. Living is so much more alluring than having lived.
